The Federal Government has reaffirmed its determination to translate Nigeria’s national climate action plan into job creation, poverty reduction, improved public health, and sustainable economic development.
This was disclosed by the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Climate Finance and Stakeholders Engagement, Ibrahim Shelleng, at the official validation of Nigeria’s Nationally Determined Contribution NDC 3.0 in Abuja.
The NDC is a collective commitment by all countries under the Paris Agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and advance climate action.
According to Shelleng, the validated NDC 3.0 is pivotal to Nigeria’s inclusive approach, ensuring that all stakeholders are involved in pursuing ambitious yet realistic national climate targets.
He emphasized that NDC 3.0 builds on the gains of previous versions, integrates recent developments in climate science and policy, and aligns with the Nigeria Energy Transition Plan and broader development strategy.
